Notes From Dusk Desk - Story 5
(Beep. Music fades in.)
Hey, I got your message, and it makes sense…? Okay, it would help if I were in any way more confident. But that’s my own personal insecurity talking. Because I do get it. The fall season has always felt like a transition into something new for me. And there’s fear and uncertainty but also a lingering sense of excitement. It’s a seasonal calendar that probably has other justifications, but then there’s the American school system at the forefront of my mind. And this is coming from someone who's been out of school for years now. Some things never go away, I guess. Then again, commercially speaking, there’s a lot of profit in this calendar cycle with back-to-school and all, so market trends…
But not the point. The point is that I remember how fraught those transitions could be. I remember the fear and how comforting it was to know that I was going to catch my footing eventually. Somehow.
So for now, dear apprentice, look to the future.
